I began writing this ep during a particularly difficult personal relocation from downtown Detroit to the always fabulous Ferndale, where I've resided off and on for the better part of 10 or more years. Once I re-assembled my gear and monitors, I found the new inspiration from my new/old surroundings had begun to spin these 2 tracks into a different life from which they started.
Both tracks began life as audio stems recorded during a sequencer jam with my MFB Synth Lite 2; that's my little go-to box for basic bass and minor leads. I had an idea that those stems would provide a base for me to improvise more melody, as well as dictate percussion choices. I also believe these tracks had started life at a much faster bpm, and I later decided to shake things up and drop down to 124 to allow some elements to breath.
